Chasing Form II

Mark Stonestreet & Benji Lowsley Williams

07 October - 14 October 2026

Sculptors Mark Stonestreet and Benji Lowsley Williams return to bring 'Chasing Form II' to J/M Gallery this Autumn. Both sculptors harbour unique, deeply intentional practices, but share a passion for carving transformation that can be held. J/M Gallery welcomes their return as they continue their chase of form.

Mark Stonestreet is a UK-based abstract stone sculptor with over twenty years of practice, known for creating works that are both captivating and thought-provoking. With a deep passion for transforming raw stone into refined, expressive forms, his sculptures are distinguished by their abstract structures, flowing lines, and striking contrasts of surface and texture. ‘Marks sculptures are a playful investigation into line, definition and geometry. Working with negative space, light and shadow, Mark gives each of his sculptures direction and flow. Lines direct the form, textures are contrasted and complemented, and shapes are contorted into new, enticing arrangements. Yet each design maintains a sense of Mark’s own, free hand carving, allowing his works to develop in an open and instinctive manner’.

Benji Lowsley Williams is a British sculptor working primarily in Purbeck limestone and marble. His practice explores the relationship between geological time, material authenticity and human intervention. Working from the Purbeck coast of Dorset, he creates geometric forms that respond to the natural character of the stone, often preserving its fractures, textures and surfaces. Rather than imposing an external design, Lowsley Williams approaches each stone as something to be discovered, revealing an interior condition already present within the material. His sculptures emerge through a dialogue between what the stone already holds and the act of carving. Honouring the stone in its original form, often reminiscent of ancient standing stones, his sculptures echo the long history of mans connection to the raw material.
