Moving Stillness, Tradition and Experimentation in the North

Cadogan Fine Arts return to J/M Gallery and presents ‘Moving Stillness, Tradition and Experimentation in the North’. A journey through the changing landscape of Nordic art, this exhibition presents the work of diverse artists from across Scandinavia, Finland and Iceland showing the influences of French Impressionism in the late nineteenth century moving through a more conceptual/abstract style of art in the early twentieth century and culminating in contemporary artists referencing the past while creating their own unique styles. Among the artists in the exhibition are Ivar Arosenius, Einar Jolin, Karel Appel, Alex Gough, Steinunn Thorarinsdottir and Alexander Klingspor.

Cadogan Fine Arts is run by Anglo-Swede, Christina Cadogan. Christina curates exhibitions, advises and gives talks on Nordic Art. She has over 20 years of experience of working in the art world, previously working at Bonhams auctioneers as a specialist in works on paper; Christina has also worked for the Swedish Embassy in London advising on art and design.
