Pseudo

Tanishi Gopalani

27 August 2025

'Pseudo' is a fake conceptual pop-up exhibition reimagining beauty branding as surreal still-life installations.

Based in London, Tanishi Gopalani is an emerging artist currently pursuing an MA in Creative Direction at UCA. Drawing inspiration from surrealism and post-modernism, her work explores irony and critique through immersive designs. Her practice moves between fashion film, installation, and events, examining how narratives shape both culture and commerce.

Her 2025 pop-up exhibition 'Pseudo' transforms J/M Gallery into the world of a fictional beauty brand. Using satire and sculptural still-life, the show reimagines brand culture as art. The brand draws on the visual parallels between natural forms and skin — textures, tones, and surfaces — blurring the line between body and landscape.

Playful yet critical, the show invites audiences to reflect on what we truly value: the product itself, or the story that sells it. Visitors can expect surreal displays, immersive brand moments, and a tongue-in-cheek take on luxury beauty culture.
