Rachel Tooth: Recent Works

Rachel Tooth returns to J/M Gallery and will be exhibiting a collection of recent paintings for a second consecutive year.

The works range from a confident particular change in scale calculated to best suit the compositional idea, varying from the monumental to the intimate, often creating open fields of colour that conjure landscapes and floral personalities. Rachel’s inner sources are expressed through recognised conventions, which utilise both technique and subject matter, reflecting her objective to be expressive. Sharing a wonderful flamboyance and sometimes a very disciplined attention to the dramatic. The works resist stylistic categorisation as the influences are so wide ranging, cultured. Look closely at the canvas surface – carefully considered, and read the brush strokes. Materials used, canvas and oil paint are of the best quality. Rachel is a Women in Art Abstract Prizewinner, and winner of the Gemini Art Prize.
