Somewhere Across The Water
Claire Howlett & Jude McKenna
04 March - 10 March 2025

'Somewhere Across The Water' is an exhibition of art by Claire Howlett & Jude McKenna. These two artists, who are bound by a shared connection to the landscape, present their first London exhibition together.
A collection of original works that explore the memory and emotion of wild places, 'Somewhere Across the Water' brings together two distinct yet harmonious visions of how land, sea, sky and light imprint themselves upon us.
Claire Howlett
Howlett’s practice is anchored in the visceral translation of terrain and emotion, drawn most deeply to the sea, yet also informed by rivers, moonlight, woodland and always the play of light within them. Working in a non-representational language, she seeks not to depict place but to distil it: merging the contours of human emotion with the presence and ever-changing energy of the natural world.
Jude McKenna
McKenna’s paintings draw from imagined and abstracted landscapes, inviting the viewer into meditative spaces shaped by weather, water, atmosphere and luminous light. Her work evokes the sensation of standing within a place and its quiet rhythms and its drifting mists, offering room to pause, to breathe and to dream.
Together, their works form a dialogue across water and distance: a shared reverence for our landscape, and for the light that transforms it.
