Where The Light Lands

99 Projects presents 'Where The Light Lands', a summer exhibition bringing together four painters and a sculptor in a lyrical exploration of light, memory, landscape and form. The group exhibition features Carrie Jean Goldsmith, Seamus Gallagher, Tom Holden, Lucy Kent and Paul Vanstone.

Across painting and sculpture, the exhibition reflects on the way light shapes our emotional experience of place and how it settles, drifts, gathers and transforms the world around us. Each artist approaches this idea through their own distinct language, yet together they create a conversation about the atmospheres we carry with us, and the places we return to in imagination long after we have left them.

The works in 'Where The Light Lands' move between the observed and the remembered, the physical and the felt. Vibrant palettes, expressive mark-making and tactile surfaces evoke the warmth and expansiveness of long summer days, while sculptural forms anchor the exhibition in material presence and quiet stillness. The result is a space where viewers are invited to pause, breathe, and step into landscapes shaped as much by memory and sensation as by geography.

Carrie Jean Goldsmith’s paintings balance abstraction and figuration, layering colour and gesture to create emotionally charged responses to landscape and light.

Seamus Gallagher’s imagined Donegal terrains blur memory and intuition, offering dreamlike spaces shaped by shifting weather, sea and sky.

Tom Holden’s energetic compositions condense movement, architecture and place into distilled painterly forms, where line and colour oscillate between the poetic and the precise.

Lucy Kent’s luminous en plein air paintings capture the immediacy of shifting light and open landscapes, inviting moments of stillness and reflection.

Complementing the painters, Paul Vanstone’s carved stone sculptures introduce a dialogue between movement and materiality, grounding the exhibition through balance, harmony and sculptural weight.

Together, the artists create an exhibition that celebrates the restorative qualities of art and its ability to transport us to the places where the light lands, and to the places it leaves behind.

The exhibition will be available to view daily from 10 am - 6 pm. A PV will take place on 24 June from 6.30 pm - 8.30 pm.
